At Hillman Law Firm we have implemented a flat fee model for our clients for filing their divorce. This is a different way of practicing law than the traditional retainer and billable hourly rate. We strongly believe that the flat fee structure is beneficial for our clients and enables us to focus on listening and assisting our clients in finding solutions to the issues they are facing.

As flat fee family law attorneys, we help keep you focused on your kids, your job, and the dispute, rather than on how much time you are being billed. Without the “meter running” clients are more willing to discuss details and ideas with us which can lead to a quicker resolution. Our clients are not afraid to call us. We want to build relationships with our clients while finding solutions. That is our goal.

Divorce is a very stressful and emotional event in a person’s life. Knowing how much the divorce is going to cost takes one stressor out and makes the transition time a little less frantic. Our clients hire us based on their individual needs, and do not worry about a big fat bill at the end.

Call us today to talk about how our flat fee plan can help you in your family law case. We want to help you.

When a person dies in Louisiana and leaves behind assets that need to be transferred into someone else’s possession a Succession is generally opened. This process is called Probate in other states There are different types of Successions in Louisiana which include: Intestate Succession There is no will and assets are distributed according to the laws of Louisiana which gives preference to children and surviving spouses. Testamentary Succession A will has been left and the named hairs are put into possession Affidavit for Small Succession A legal affidavit that distributes assets when the total value of the Succession is under $125,000 and there is little-to-no debt. It is important to note that not all assets go through the Succession. Life insurances pay-outs and investment retirement accounts with a named beneficiary are not considered assets of the Succession. If a family member of yours has passed away and you need assistance with transferring the assets through a Succession, please call me. I am here to answer your questions and guide you through the legal process.
